HSL Championship

2017 Major - B Champions

Sunday, March 1, 2026

Calgary Crusaders captured the 2017 Major B Championship with a dramatic 5-4 shootout win over Wolverines Hockey Academy at the Ice Palace in West Edmonton Mall.

Wolverines opened the scoring and carried a 1-0 lead out of the first, before the Crusaders’ offense started to roll in the second and third to set up a 3-3 deadlock through regulation. Calgary’s attack was led by multi-point efforts from forwards including Hudson Loewen and James Finkbeiner, while Wolverines countered with key goals from the likes of Taos Adam and Crew Wilson to keep the game tight all the way through overtime.?

In the extra frame, both teams traded chances but the goaltenders stood tall, forcing the championship to be decided in a shootout. There, the Crusaders found the edge they needed, converting twice while their netminder turned aside enough Wolverines attempts to seal the title and crown Calgary Crusaders as 2017 Major B Division Champions in the HSL.
